EDUCATION

The Somali Labour Party understands and appreciates the sublime relevance of education for the empowerment of the Somalis. The Party believes that the human capital development of the people and the growth of the nation are completely dependent on a good education system and structure. This informs the productive education policies the Party has in place for implementation because she is sure education is the efficient tool of equipping the Somalis to fight and eradicate poverty. 

Among the first objectives of the Somali Labour Party education policies is to provide quality education to all Somalis irrespective of class, sex and social standing. In order to materialize and implement this policy, the Party commits itself to actualizing the following: 

1) Guarantee free primary and vocational education for all Somali students with free breakfast program, free health care and free textbooks.

2) Build new and moderately affordable schools or revamp existing schools in dilapidating physical condition.

3) Develop concrete and transparent educational program that will enable young Somalis to acquire the skills they need, through effective vocational profession, to form part of the productive forces of the nation’s economic growth and technological development.

4) Create and establish positive upgrading programs for Somali teachers so that they better educate their students. Where necessary, we will request the help of donor States of Somalia for experienced teachers in vocational training programs.

5) Free evening Schools for literacy and professional upgrading of adults and seniors. These evening schools will furnish them with new vocational and technical skills for the production sectors.
